Opened in 1982, Skyway Dental Clinic is a comprehensive and caring dental home for families and working professionals in and around the Downtown and North Loop neighborhoods of Minneapolis.
The practice was established by Dr. Frederick Schilling, who served this community for over 40 years. In 2017, Dr. Maggie Thompson joined the practice and took over ownership in 2021.
We are proud to be part of the large and bustling downtown community but our approach to dentistry features a more personal touch. Our dentists believe spending focused, one-on-one time with our patients is important for fostering strong patient-provider relationships. Dr. Maggie Thompson, DDS
Dr. Maggie Craven Thompson was born and raised in Austin, MN—a.k.a. Spamtown, USA. She moved to Minneapolis in 2009 to attend the University of Minnesota for her undergraduate career, receiving a BS in Biology. After falling in love with the metro area, she continued her academic career at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2017. Go, Gophers!
Dr. Maggie is excited to have found a home at Skyway Dental Clinic and grateful for Dr. Schilling's mentorship at the beginning of her career. In 2021, she became the new owner and operator of Skyway Dental Clinic. As a proponent of lifelong learning, she is active in various professional organizations, such as the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, the City of Lakes Chapter of the Seattle Study Club, and the Spear Education Study Club.
Dr. Maggie is passionate about developing lasting patient relationships through patient education and quality, personalized care. She resides in St. Paul with her husband, Matt, two young daughters, and their rescue pup, Lena. She spends her free time with family and friends, traveling, crafting, cooking, and exploring the Twin Cities through long walks with Lena and frequenting local restaurants.
Dr. Krishna Katira, DDS
Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr. Katira moved to the UK at the age of 18 to pursue her career in dentistry. After she graduated, she practiced general dentistry in the UK for over 11 years before deciding to move to the US with her husband. She received additional training through the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, graduating in 2017, followed by a year-long Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency. Her favorite part of her job is seeing patients leave the office happy and satisfied with their experience. She values the open communication and supportive environment within her team, which helps everyone perform their best.
A self-proclaimed science nerd, Dr. Katira chose dentistry for its hands-on nature and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and has a knack for organizing, a uniquely fulfilling hobby. A fun fact about Dr. Katira? Despite her many talents, she admits to being an awful singer!
Cindy
Office Manager
Cindy graduated from Concorde Career Institute as a licensed dental assistant in 1994 and joined the Skyway Dental Clinic team in August 2008. In 2015, Cindy joined our administrative team, and she is the first friendly face you see when you walk into our office. She keeps our ship afloat! Patients are quickly comforted by Cindy’s friendly demeanor and extensive dental experience. Cindy maintains her dental assistant licensure, and you may occasionally catch her assisting one of our doctors.
Cindy married her husband, Dan in 2020. She is a loving mother and also proud grandmother to five beautiful granddaughters.
In her spare time, Cindy enjoys spending time at the beach, motorcycling, and vacationing in Florida.
Kimberly
Licensed Dental Assistant
Kimberly Arnold started her dental career in 1989 and brings a wealth of experience to her role. She has been a valued member of the Skyway Dental team since October 2017. Kimberly received her education and training from the Minnesota Institute of Medical and Dental Careers.
Her job responsibilities include patient care, being a supportive team player, and ensuring patients feel comfortable, especially when nervous. Kimberly finds great joy in seeing the smiles on her patients' faces after their treatment and values the family-like atmosphere of her team.
Kimberly was drawn to the dental field by her passion for helping people and her love for patient care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time hiking, biking, traveling, and watching movies. One of her unique hobbies is exploring and seeing different waterfalls during her travels. A fun fact about Kimberly is her love for the ocean and beautiful sandy beaches.
Eileen
Registered Dental Hygienist
Eileen earned her degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and has worked in dentistry since 1989. She and her family moved to Minnesota in 1997, and she joined Skyway Dental in 2014.
The most rewarding part of the job for Eileen is building relationships with patients and supporting them through their highs and lows. By remembering patients' names and recalling details from previous visits, she hopes to help them feel valued and cared for.
Eileen believes in the power of teamwork and enjoys colleagues who share a commitment to helping one another to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently. Her coworkers are like a second family, and she cherishes their time together outside of work.
Drawn to healthcare from an early age, Eileen chose the dental field after speaking with professionals in the industry. Outside work, she loves to travel, with past adventures including cruises to the Caribbean, trips to Europe and Australia, and an upcoming trip to Japan. When not traveling, she enjoys working on home projects or spending weekends at the family's cabin. A unique hobby of hers is restoring a 1958 Corvette. A fact people might not know about Eileen is that she is the youngest of nine children and grew up in Connecticut.
Diane
Licensed Dental Assistant
Diane graduated from Minneapolis Technical College’s Dental Assisting program in 1987 and joined Skyway Dental in 2012. Her responsibilities include chairside assisting, sterilization, maintaining dental equipment, recordkeeping, and light office cleaning duties.
Drawn to the dental field by her love for comforting and helping people and inspiration from her cousin, who was also a dental assistant, Diane has built a fulfilling career. She prides herself on making patients feel relaxed and comfortable during their visits. For Diane, the best part of working at Skyway Dental is the close-knit team environment, which fosters open communication and a sense of camaraderie.
In her spare time, she enjoys caring for her cats, tinkering around her home, gardening, and cheering for the Twins. A unique aspect of Diane’s personality is her ability to remain calm in almost any situation. An interesting fact? She was born and raised in North Central Wisconsin, where most of her family still resides.
Maya
Registered Dental Hygienist
Maya has been working in the field since 2018. She received her education and training from Herzing University.
In her role, Maya focuses on cleaning teeth, providing treatments, and educating patients on proper oral hygiene. She enjoys getting to know her patients and interacting with them daily, ensuring they receive the best care and education.
Outside of work, Maya enjoys going to the casino and cooking. A fun fact about her? She is also a mechanic who works on diesel trucks.
Na Darra
Front Desk Administrator
Na Darra graduated from Herzing University as a dental hygienist and is working toward getting certified soon. We welcomed her to Skyway Dental Clinic in October 2022, and she seamlessly transitioned into her new role.
As our dedicated front desk administrator, Na Darra has numerous responsibilities, including greeting patients warmly and ensuring their appointments go smoothly. She is dedicated to providing patients with the best experience possible and supporting her team to create a positive and happy environment. What Na Darra loves most about her job is building special relationships with patients and her team. She enjoys knowing patients and team members can rely on her for anything and takes pride in making others happy.
In her spare time, Na Darra enjoys watching shows, listening to music, relaxing, and traveling whenever possible. She has been trying to become more of an outdoor person while learning to dance, doing photography, and creating content as a hobby. A fun fact about Na Darra? She loves collecting shoes and sunglasses and has a great passion for fashion.
Ty
Dental Assistant
Ty is a dedicated dental assistant who brings a blend of humor and care to our practice. He began his journey in dentistry in 2019 after completing his education at Herzing University in St Louis Park. Ty initially worked in a multi-doctor clinic, gaining experience in a range of dental specialties. In July 2024, he made the transition to Skyway Dental Clinic, and is excited to provide care in his own neighborhood.
Ty is passionate about improving the perception of dental visits by adding simple comforts that make a significant difference for patients. He appreciates the one-on-one connections he makes with patients and supporting them on their dental journey throughout various stages of life.
Outside the professional setting, you can usually find Ty cooking with his cat, playing pinball, or dancing at a concert. He is also an avid vinyl collector, always on the lookout for rare finds. Ty's unique hobby is experimenting with cooking inspired by Julia Child’s "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and always producing a stellar end product.
A fun fact about Ty is his expansive knowledge of pop culture, and he continues to enjoy learning about its different facets, past and future.
